Inclusive yoga

Yoga and mindfulness that meets you where you are at

Yoga for me

Recent times have made it difficult for people to go out and connect with others. The COVID health pandemic restricted movement(literally) and community participation. None more so than in the disability community. It is no wonder that there has been an increase in (loneliness) anxiety and depression especially in vulnerable populations:

Moving on from COVID means facing its impact on mental health, say experts (University of Sydney)

Yoga means union and is underpinned by the idea that we are all in this together. Different bodies, different outlooks, different people coming together on the mat. I have been teaching people with different abilities over about 4 years and informally for longer. Some of those have been people living with arthritis, vision impairment, mild autism and neurodiverse conditions of a mild to moderate nature. It has been rewarding for both students and me. I focus on overall wellbeing, do mostly verbal adjustments(only touch with consent) and do not look to actively treat people for a medical condition. Please seek medical advice before attending class if you have any health concerns. I do not work with people with behavioural or complex conditions.

Let’s work together

  • Small group yoga

Whether you would like a 1-1 or small group session with friends I am happy to assist.

…“Stephanie had a way with words, her voice was gentle, soft yet able to confidently direct me in and out of postures. Using words can be challenging enough, but doing it with someone blind is really challenging”…
